Praise Nasingura
Looking at the precarious situation that faces the girl child who is not in school, and upon request from the parents, the executive director of JOCFU Uganda, was compelled to offer her a volunteer position at HEVIA-Uganda which is a partner offering healthcare services to JOCFU beneficiaries.
During this volunteering, she was also inducted in keeping medical records and assisting nurses at the facility. It should also be noted that her prior interest was to pursue a certificate in nursing which was no longer possible because she had been dropped from sponsorship which was her sole opportunity to achieve this dream. This implies that for a full year now, she has been out of school but utilizing her time through induction in basic volunteering as a medical records keeper and assistant nurse.
Currently Praise is doing community volunteering at a community health facility which is at the same time a partner of JOCFU Uganda. Her aspirations are still anchored in medical professionalism and this is possible because she passed mathematics, English and ICT. With good scores in these subjects, Praise can pursue a career in Medical records clerking should see find an opportunity to get a new sponsor.
Medical record clerks in Uganda can work with government primary health care units, NGO that run health related services and private for profit companies operating clinics and dispensaries. As a medical records clerk, she would be able to earn a sufficient salary for her livelihood while offering a service.
